What a night of celebration this years Cumbria Family Business Awards turned out to be. For those who thought the inaugural event last year was magical, this year it was spectacular. Held at the Garden at Eden, Carlisle, the event lent itself admirably to the occasion as 35 family businesses eagerly awaited the announcement of the category winners after being served a hearty Sunday roast – well it was a family event!
With the original host of Hairy Biker Dave Myers stepping down due to illness at short notice, we had the pleasure of Si King, the other half of the Hairy Bikers duo and what a star he was, entertaining and engaging with all.
In its second year, the event has clearly grown in stature with an increasing number of applicants, a new business category created and a growing number of sponsors & supporters along with the creative talents of Janett Walker, Sophia Newton, Sue Howorth and Victoria Sedgwick, just to name a few.
In addition to the individual category winners, the events Outstanding Family Business of the Year Award was presented to Carlisle based Pioneer Foods.
“This is a fabulous event for Enterprise Answers to be involved with and reflects our passion to support family businesses” says Chief Executive, Grahame Latus ” and we sincerely hope to be involved in the years to come. This event is more than just a business awards, it’s become Cumbria’s greatest family reunion”.
